NCU students attend IEEE-IPR Workshop at IIT Delhi

IEEE Delhi Section conducted a workshop on ‘Patent Publishing in India - A Paradigm-shift for Innovation in Academics’ at IIT Delhi on 20 Aug 2018. 13 members of the IEEE-NCU Chapter actively participated in the event and learnt about patenting and its importance on the following topics:

•‘Setting up an IPR Cell’ by Dr Smitha Sahu, Amity University.
•‘In-depth understanding of the patenting process right from filing, publishing to granting’ by Mr Prithipal Singh, India Patent Office.
•‘Tools for Prior-Art search and to determine patentability’ by Mr James Durkin, IP.com

Students were inspired to write more research papers for IEEE-NCU Chapter and received Certificates of Participation. The feedback from students was positive and they were motivated to learn more about patent publishing.

Partnership Agreement between The NorthCap University and MAGES Institute of Excellence, Singapore

The NorthCap University signed a Partnership Agreement with MAGES Institute of Excellence, Singapore, both leading educational institutions in their respective fields, on 8 Aug 2018.  Under this agreement MAGES Institute of Excellence will provide guidance and training in new technological areas like Virtual Reality, Augmented Reality, Artificial Intelligence, Data Analytics and other emerging areas to students and faculty at NCU. They will also suggest courses in newer technologies which can be embed in the BTech programmes, especially related to CSE & ECE. A roadmap is being jointly worked out under the leadership of Prof. Swaran Ahuja, Dean Academics, and likely to be completed by November 2018. 


The Agreement was signed by Ms Neeru Bahl, CEO, MAGES Institute of Excellence and Prof. HB Raghavendra, Vice-Chancellor, for a period of five years. Ms Kathy Lai, Dy CEO, Enterprise Singapore;  Mr Ravi Kant Bahl, Director, MAGES Institute of Excellence and Shri  V Daulet Singh, Hon’ble Chancellor, The NorthCap University were also present at the occasion. With this Agreement both parties bring on board their immense strengths, committing to raising standards in education and preparing the next generation of students for jobs of the future.

MAGES Institute of Excellence is a private education institution based out of Singapore which provides high quality tertiary level coaching with rapidly developing media, animation and gaming industries and aims at delivering a complete learning experience in Game Designing technology featuring programmes. MAGES Institute of Excellence recently conducted a six week summer internship programme for NCU’s Final-year students from 4 June to 13 July 2018, which was highly appreciated by all.

Alumnus shares insights on Project Based Learning

The Department of Mechanical Engineering organized an interaction with Alumnus Mr Naveen Chauhan, (Class of 2018), Andritz Hydro Ltd, Faridabad, on the topic ‘Project Based Learning’ during the Induction Programme for 1st Year students (ME) on 3 August 2018. Mr Naveen shared his learning experiences while pursuing BTech at NCU and discussed the benefits of working on projects while studying theoretical concepts. He also talked about the projects that he completed as an active member of NCU’s Society for Automotive Engineers (SAE), which was followed by an interactive session which was coordinated by Mr Anmol Bhatia and Mr Jag Parvesh Dahiya.

Special session on ‘Ace your Interview’ at the Dept of EECE

The Dept of EECE organized a special session on ‘Ace your Interview’ for students of BTech, ECE, Final-year by Ms Shikha Malhotra, Certified Image Consultant on 8 August 2018. It was a rigorous 2.5 hour session on innovative and unique techniques of facing interviews including proper communication, showcasing strengths and identifying weaknesses. Live session on body language and mock interviews were conducted by Ms Shikha. Students found the session beneficial, especially with the placement season starting soon. The guest lecture was coordinated by Dr Rekha Vig, Associate Professor.

Emerging Technologies on Virtual Reality and Augmented Reality for First Year Computer Science and Electronics & Communications Engineering Departments

The latest technology coming up in today’s world is Augmented (AR) and Virtual Reality (VR). MAGES Studio, Singapore gave a presentation on these newer technologies on 3 August 2018, during the 10 day Induction Programme comprising of various technical and non-technical activities organized for 1st Year students from 23 July to 3 Aug 2018.



NCU’s 3rd and 4th Year BTech, CSE and ECE students recently underwent a six week summer internship during June-July 2018 mastering concepts of Game Development and learning how to work with core game engines such as Unity and Unreal. Their remarkable, unique and relevant solutions using cutting edge AR and VR technology were shown to the 1st Year students during the presentation.
