Role of Mechanical Engineers in Manufacturing Industries

The four-year course in mechanicalengineering is well diversified in various domains such as production engineering, industrial engineering, thermal engineering, robotics, and design engineering. After the degree, the majority of the student opts for placements in core mechanical engineering industries. The majority of the MSME industries in the NCR region are Tier-1 and Tier-2 vendors of the automobile giants such as Maruti Suzuki India Limited, Honda Motor Company, Ford India Private Limited and Hyundai Motor Company. Such industries are always in the search of suitable mechanical engineering candidates for their manufacturing/production and design divisions.

The candidates with good knowledge of basic engineering graphics and drawing, machine drawing and designing software such as AutoCAD, SOLIDWORKS, and ANSYS add weight to the profile. The students from the mechanical engineering background can directly be absorbed in various positions (given below) after initial training as per Industrial rules and regulations.

       Engineer in the design department.
       Workshop assistant supervisor/manager
       Quality control assistant manager
       Tool design engineer
       Supply chain department
       Maintenance engineering department, etc.

Some of the local industries do offer handsome package in these domains, which may exceed CTC of more than 6 Lakhs. Students need to reach out to these industries themselves as very few industries come for campus placements. There are enormous jobs for Mechanical engineers in the manufacturing sector. Students learning attitude and curricula are to be mapped with the requirement of Industries to achieve the goal.
