School of Management (SOM) Visit To Air Cargo & Customs, New Delhi

With a view to providing an industry exposure to the students, a visit to Air Cargo, Exports & Imports (Delhi Customs), under Ministry of Finance, Department of Revenue, was organised for the B Sc. Economics (Hons.) students of SOM, on 20th April, 2015. It was a visit of 2 hours to the Exsports & Imports Shed (Air Cargo) near the Indira Gandhi International Airport with the objective of having insight into import & export documentation requirements, procedures, cargo management/ handling and related issues. The students were exposed to various warehouses managed by the Department, covering exports as well as imports. These students were really excited to witness a live experience of a Cathay Pacific Aircraft's unloading process at the import shed. The humility and encouraging nature of the customs officials led to an interactive session where the officials were able to whet the inquisitive appetite of the students. The students acknowledged it as a unique learning experience. The visit was organised by Dr Sushmita Biswal Waraich.
