SPIE
(An International Society of Optics and Photonics) is an international
society advancing an interdisciplinary approach in the field of Science
and application of light. Year 2015 is being celebrated as an
International Year of Light. The SPIE student chapter of ITM University, Gurgaon organized an interactive session on Holography conducted by Prof. Kehar Singh (Fellow member SPIE) on 13 February 2015.
Prof.
Singh explained the basic holography concepts to the students. He
further explained about what holograms are and how are they made.
Students actively participated in the discussion as it was more of an
interactive session than a lecture. The SPIE student chapter at ITMU
plans to continue this series and bring up more demonstrations on the
subject.
The
event was graced by presence of the Pro-Chancellor, Prof. Prem Vrat and
the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. B S Panwar. The event was coordinated by Dr
Sunanda Vashisth, faculty advisor SPIE student chapter ITMU and Mr
Prabhat Sharma, faculty coordinator SPIE student chapter ITMU. Mohit
Yadav (President, SPIE student chapter ITMU) and Manica Kathuria (Vice
President SPIE student chapter ITMU) were the force behind the event.
The session was attended by 50 students along with the faculty members
of Dept of APS and ECE. The University looks forward to more events from
SPIE in the future.
