Independence Day Celebrations at The NorthCap University Gurugram

The NorthCap University, Gurugram, celebrated the nation's 72nd Independence Day on 15 Aug 2018, with a lot of enthusiasm and gaiety. The high spirits and patriotic fervour of the faculty, staff, students and children, who attended the function, was visibly evident.

The Vice-Chancellor, Prof.  HB Raghavendra unfurled the National Flag and took the salute as the smartly turned out contingent of security staff led by the Security Officer, Mr Sanjeev Kumar, marched past the dais. Speaking on the occasion Prof. Raghavendra greeted all faculty members, students and staff members including their families. While conveying his good wishes, he reminded everyone of the supreme sacrifices made by several leaders political and non-political in securing independence for our country.

Prof. Raghavendra said, “On this auspicious day I also take this opportunity to make our students, faculty and staff of NCU aware of our next vision as a University. As you already know that we are ranked amongst the 200 universities in the recent survey of NIRF (National Institutional Ranking Framework) of MHRD, Govt. of India. While I appreciate the hard work of all my faculty, staff and students behind this, next year we must strive to be within 100. We have to educate our students with the latest technologies by integrating our curriculum with industry practices. I also expect all our teachers to become facilitators in the overall development of each student”.

A cultural programme by the students highlighted sacrifice and patriotism for the country. The celebrations were followed by high tea for all.

Presentation by SPIC MACAY NCU Chapter at the Induction Programme 2018

The NorthCap University (NCU), apart from aspiring for academic excellence, has always been promoting the values and wisdom embodied in the Indian heritage amongst the youth, with a hope that these will influence their way of life and inspire them to become a better human being. The Society for the Promotion of Indian Classical Music and Culture Amongst Youth, (SPIC MACAY), is a movement that promotes Indian classical music, Indian classical dance, and other aspects of Indian culture.

As a part of the Induction Programme for 1st Year students, volunteers Biswaksen Panda and Yashika of the SPIC MACAY NCU Chapter shared the platform with the other NCU clubs and societies and presented the importance and values embedded in the movement on 3 Aug 2018. They highlighted the background, objectives and activities of the Society followed by a short documentary on the various past events of the Chapter including the motivating words of some of the alumni who have been an integral part of the society. The volunteers were dressed in different traditional costumes to promote the diverse cultures in our country and encouraged the freshers to be a part of this Society and learn more about Indian culture and traditions.
