NSS School Outreach Programme

NSS School Outreach Programme To create awareness about important issues and spend quality time with students of Government schools three teams of NCU - NSS volunteers visited three schools, namely Government Senior Secondary School, Sarhaul, SLAK Government Girls Senior School, Gurugram and Shaheed Bhagat Singh Yadav School, Gurugram on 13 September 2017.

Team 1- Government Senior Secondary School, Sarhaul 

Team 1 of 19 volunteers visited Government Senior Secondary School, Sarhaul, Sector 35, Gurugram. They made students aware of topics such as fundamental rights, photography, public speaking, sports, first aid, career counselling and mathematics. The zeal of the team matched with that of the students.

Team 2- SLAK Govt. Senior Secondary Girls School, Sector-6, Gurugram 

Team 2 of 13 volunteers visited SLAK Govt Senior Secondary Girls School and held sessions on art and craft, English grammar, maths, body language, life skills and life around social media for classes 6th -12th. The art and craft lesson consisted of innovative origami creations using newspapers and life around social media, focused on how social networking sites like Face book, Instagram and Twitter affect the life of teenagers.

Team 3 - Shaheed Bhagat Singh Yadav School, Gurugram 

Team 3 of 20 volunteers visited Shaheed Bhagat Singh Yadav School, Gurugram. They made students aware about various career options, road safety and the importance of sanitation. Lessons on art and crafts were also held. Students also learnt about Vedic maths as well as their basic fundamental rights. In all it was an uplifting and satisfying event for the NSS volunteers. The event was organized by Ms Jyotsna Singh, NCU-NSS Programme Coordinator.

NSS School Outreach Programme

The NSS society of The NorthCap University took an initiative to inculcate a positive attitude among underprivileged students of different NGO’s and a government school. On 10 April 2017 four teams under NSS were formed to make young students of different schools aware of the increasing competition and stresses they might face physically and mentally.

Team 1 – SBY School

The team decided to take an initiative to make students aware about career counselling, positive thinking, first aid, spoken English etc. 10 volunteers were allotted SBY School. Few took career counselling session for 9th and 10th class in which they were guided about the streams they can choose ahead in 11th class and the importance of being independent. They were curious to know about the various career option like Defence, Engineering, Medical etc. Pamphlets were also distributed. Sessions for positive thinking for class 6th and 7th was also undertaken, asking them to be happy in all situations. Overall the whole session turned out to be interactive and successful.

Team 2 - Girls Senior Secondary, Sector 6 

One of our teams visited the Government Girls Senior Secondary School, Sector 6 Gurugram. They targeted students of class 6th, 7th and 10th. For class 6th and 7th a Spoken English session was held to improve their communication skills. Students were keen to participate and learned to interact with others around them, which raised their confidence.

    

A Fun quiz was also held and games were played with a lot of enthusiasm. An informative session of career counselling was held for class 10th. It proved to a great learning experience for the school students and our team alike .

Team 3 - Mahavir International School, Sec 17

The NSS Volunteers had put in laborious efforts to make the event fully interactive discussing about how to be positive in all the situations. Same lessons on arts and dance were also given.

We gave them knowledge and also entertained them and helped them to laugh and enjoy. Positivity and the dance activity made the ambience rejuvenating and the smiles on the faces of kids made our day. The motto ‘Not me, But You’  made wonders  in our lives that day.

Team 4 – Harmony School, Sector 17, Gurugram

Our NSS team decided to take an initiative to aware the students about health, sanitation and first aid. Our team was allotted Harmony school, Sector 17A, Gurgaon, in which they interacted with kids ranging from 5 years to 10 years. It was an amazing experience. We taught them about regular hygiene, in an interactive session and conversations with them. They listened to us patiently and answered the questions after the seminar was completed. In all it was an astonishing and satisfying event for us.
