The Qutbi Brothers Perform at The NorthCap University

The NorthCap University takes pride in being the nodal centre for SPIC MACAY activities in Gurgaon. The Society for the Promotion of Indian Classical Music and Culture Amongst Youth (SPIC MACAY) is a movement that promotes Indian classical music, classical dance, and other aspects of Indian culture amongst students. NCU, apart from aspiring for academic excellence, has always been promoting the values and wisdom embodied in the Indian heritage amongst the youth, with a hope that these events will influence their way of life and inspire them to become a better human being.

On 27 Feb 2018, The Northcap University invited Haji Mohd Idris and Mohd Ilyas, popularly known as the Qutbi Brothers, one of the most significant Qawwali artists in contemporary Indian music. Apart from being top-grade artists of All India Radio and Doordarshan, the Qutbi Brothers have performed at various prestigious venues globally. They were also Astana singers at the Durbar of Hazarat Qutbuddin Bakhtiar Kaki, from where they have been awarded the title of ‘Qutbi Brothers’. At NCU they presented many heart-touching and popular qawwalis engrossing the audience completely. Through their performance as well as interaction with them the audience was privileged to understand and appreciate some of the intricacies of classical music. The students were enthralled by the beauty of the qawwalis and joined the eminent singers by clapping to their tunes.
