Role of Alumni Relations in the Academic Life of an Institute

The Alumni act as a beacon for the present generation in motivating them towards choosing their careers and accomplishing their goals. Not only this, they can help in their internships, placements and at times even in their organizational promotions. The role of Alumni is not only limited to the environment in institutions but prevails much beyond that. Therefore it is essential for students and institutions to maintain a healthy and professional relationship with their alumni so that they can take requisite guidance and support through this interlinkage. It ultimately benefits the present and future generation of students.

When we look into our past we find very illustrious alumni of the Takshila University, the great political master Chanakya, the real father of medical sciences Charak and Panini, the great expert in language and grammar. An Alma Mater is like a generous mother to its alumni and always attains sense of gratification when it finds its alumni moving ahead and achieving greater heights. Also, the accomplishments of its alumni reflect the hard work and the well-established processes that have taken shape into the institutions. The success of alumni is influenced by the character of the faculty, curriculum design, co-curricular activities organized and cultures established in an institution. For the alumni, the institute is part of their identity and for the institute the alumni are the key to its growth.

We should seek out opportunities by which we get connected to our alumni and encourage them to be our eternal partners. The success of alumni also motivates the present generation of students. They enthuse them with the confidence in the culture and norms that have been established in the institution. It is very important to maintain this umbilical relationship and the onus of this lies greatly on the Alma Mater.
