ITM University, Gurgaon Students Visit Columbia Asia Hospital

A contingent of ITM University, Gurgaon Engineering students went for an education visit to Columbia Asia Multispecialty Hospital at Palam Vihar, Gurgaon on 7 April 2015. The visit was organized by the Department for the students of ECE (6th semester) studying Biomedical Instrumentation. The students got an excellent opportunity to know about the functioning of various biomedical instruments. They also interacted with the biomedical engineer at the Hospital and learned about features and utilities of different instruments. It helped the students in combining the academic knowledge with practical experience. The students were introduced to x-ray machine, CT Scan machine, MRI machine and ultrasound machine. The imaging system, including the procedures and measurements, was explained by the biomedical engineer. The functionality of ECG, EEG, EMG and defibrillator along with the electrode system was also demonstrated to the students.

The students also got a chance to visualize the measurements involved in dialysis being performed on a patient. It was an informative visit through which they could relate the theory being taught in the subject with actual medical instruments demonstrations. The visit was coordinated by Ms Shaveta Arora and Ms Naresh Kumari of Dept of EECE.
