The students of ITM University, Gurgaon made the University proud by securing the 2nd Runners-up position in Student’s
Innovation Pavilion held at GRIDTECH 2015 (5th International Exhibition &
Conference) at ITPO, Pragati Maidan, New
Delhi from 8 – 10 April 2015. They were rewarded with appreciation and a cash
prize of Rs. 25,000.
The students demonstrating the robot named ‘Dexto:Eka’ (The Humanoid Robot) impressed the audience by presenting one unique creation. The developer team consists of final year ECE students Himanshu Vaswani, Yash Gupta and Sumit Gupta, who have developed this project under the guidance of Mr Sidharth Bhatia, Asst Professor, Dept of EECE, ITM University, Gurgaon. The robot is created with the aim of serving various purposes using its advanced teleoperation as well as night vision ability which also provides live video feed to the remote operator. Some of the notable areas of its use are bomb detection and working in inhospitable environments such as nuclear disaster sites.
The Student’s Innovation Pavilion, where
the robot was demonstrated, was conceived to reward innovative projects, where
entries from a very large number of institutions across the country were
invited by Powergrid Corporation of India (PGCIL). 40 projects were shortlisted
and displayed at the Pavilion during GRIDTECH 2015. The event was organised
by PGCIL with the support of Ministry of Power and in association with CBIP and
IEEMA. The theme of the exhibition was on new technologies in Transmission,
Distribution, Renewable Energy Integration, Smart Grid, Communication etc.
In addition to the project Dexto:Eka, two more
innovative projects from ITM University, Gurgaon were selected for the
exhibition. The project titled ‘GPS
based Collision Avoiding System’ prepared by Akshay Kapoor, Arjun Pannu and Anshul Lakra of Dept of EECE under
the guidance of Ms Naresh Kumari and
the project titled ‘Intelligent Parking System
with Damage Notification’ prepared by Shubham
Ahuja and Sawan Chauhan of Dept of EECE under the guidance of Ms Amanpreet Kaur
were exhibited and appreciated by the visitors.
