ITMUniversity, Gurgaon is recognised as much for its illustrious sporting traditious as it is for its excellence in education, learning and research. Students not only excel in academics but also perform admirably well in all sports activities both at the University and state level. Sports activities in the University are well managed by a team of competent sports professionals. The facilities available for sports are very good, and the students enjoy spending their free time playing games. The fields are always full, buzzing with activities, but the passion for Cricket is the greatest. The spectacle of cricket is at its best, when played under lights at night in coloured clothing at the ITM University sports field, which has one of the best facility for night cricket.

The sports calendar of the University, is planned well in advance, with ten sports identified in the beginning of the year and are fiercely competed amongst all Departments and Schools, in the true spirit of sportsmanship. Last year Department of EECE of the School of Engineering & Technology emerged as the Sports Champion, beating the Department of Mechanical Engineering though by a small margin.

Our teams while participating in various tournaments have earned laurels. Our Basketball team (Men) lifted the championship trophy organized by the Amity University, Noida, during feb 2014 by beating the team of Delhi Institute of Technology, Management and Research by a margin of 53 to 35. Similarly our football team participated in the inter university football tournament organized by BITS, Goa and reached the quarterfinals where they lost to the ultimate winners of the tournament. In the individual event. Abhinav Bhardwaj a MTech student participated in the Yoga competition conducted by the Delhi State Yoga Association, and was the second runners up. Mr. Avi Sharma a BBA student took part in the National Ice Hockey championship under Boys U-20 category, and his team finished runners up in the final baggins the Silver medal. He also represented Maharastra State, in the Nationals held at Ladakh, during Feb 2015. Jatin Phogat a First year student of Computer Science Eng. represented the Delhi State in the National Volleyball championship held at Rampur (Uttar Pradesh) from 17-01-2015 to 23-01-2015.

Our endevaour at ITM University is to encourage all those who have passion in sports to excel and achieve higher standards and for those who are beginners to learn at least one game during their stay at the university.

Our sports mantra – you only fail, when you stop trying.
