ITMU STUDENTS SHINE IN SPORTS: A GLIMPSE



ITMUniversity, Gurgaon is recognised as much for its illustrious sporting traditious as it is for its excellence in education, learning and research. Students not only excel in academics but also perform admirably well in all sports activities both at the University and state level. Sports activities in the University are well managed by a team of competent sports professionals. The facilities available for sports are very good, and the students enjoy spending their free time playing games. The fields are always full, buzzing with activities, but the passion for Cricket is the greatest. The spectacle of cricket is at its best, when played under lights at night in coloured clothing at the ITM University sports field, which has one of the best facility for night cricket.



The sports calendar of the University, is planned well in advance, with ten sports identified in the beginning of the year and are fiercely competed amongst all Departments and Schools, in the true spirit of sportsmanship. Last year Department of EECE of the School of Engineering & Technology emerged as the Sports Champion, beating the Department of Mechanical Engineering though by a small margin.


Our teams while participating in various tournaments have earned laurels. Our Basketball team (Men) lifted the championship trophy organized by the Amity University, Noida, during feb 2014 by beating the team of Delhi Institute of Technology, Management and Research by a margin of 53 to 35. Similarly our football team participated in the inter university football tournament organized by BITS, Goa and reached the quarterfinals where they lost to the ultimate winners of the tournament. In the individual event. Abhinav Bhardwaj a MTech student participated in the Yoga competition conducted by the Delhi State Yoga Association, and was the second runners up. Mr. Avi Sharma a BBA student took part in the National Ice Hockey championship under Boys U-20 category, and his team finished runners up in the final baggins the Silver medal. He also represented Maharastra State, in the Nationals held at Ladakh, during Feb 2015. Jatin Phogat a First year student of Computer Science Eng. represented the Delhi State in the National Volleyball championship held at Rampur (Uttar Pradesh) from 17-01-2015 to 23-01-2015.



Our endevaour at ITM University is to encourage all those who have passion in sports to excel and achieve higher standards and for those who are beginners to learn at least one game during their stay at the university.


Our sports mantra – you only fail, when you stop trying.

As he moves on from school to college, a student has a lot of dreams and expectations. And true it is because college life is a phase of life which gives a student a direction, helps him choose a path on which he is going to tread all his life and makes him independent and mature.

This is the time when a world full of knowledge and learning unfolds before him. He realizes that he has to now have acquire more and more - acquire knowledge, skills and confidence in order to become a well rounded professional  of the future.  While knowledge and its application are the key requirements of the world of business, persons who are confident as well as enthusiastic and who know how to be good team- players as well as leaders are persons having the perfect combination. One acquires these skills and qualities through participation in extra-curricular activities.

You name it and we have it! Yes! Students at ITMUniversity, Gurgaon get to be a part of any club that they wish to and hone skills that lie dormant. Indulging in hobbies is a rewarding and enriching experience that enhances a person’s well being and that is why students pursue their passions through the various clubs at the university.

Weather it is the strumming of the guitar or the humming of a song, members of Encore the music club are good at it all. The click of a camera and the zoom of a webcam is what one learns in Lumiere, the photography club.  Heart touching themes making their way to your hearts through our street plays written and directed by our own students from Abhimanch.  

The dance club Reframers,  The Movie club, the Debating club, e club, Google club, Microsoft cub, Samwad, Abhivyakt, Lingua Franca, Success Mantra, ISTE, Aptitude club, Mainstream, Santulan, are some of the hobby clubs at ITM University where like-minded students team up to put up events from time to time.

Teams representing the different clubs have been participating in various inter-college festivals and have won several accolades. Student members of the clubs get to organize events their own way whereby they get to experience organizing skills and working together towards a common objective gives them a chance to learn team work.

At ITM University, the aim is to make our students accomplished, well rounded professionals of tomorrow and it is for this reason that students are encouraged to come forward and indulge in their hobbies and passions alongside studies.

Guest Lecture On ‘Empowerment Through Enterprise’

Department of Mechanical Engineering, ITM University, Gurgaon organized a guest lecture on “Empowerment through Enterprise” by Mr Ritesh Garg, Founder and Director of ‘I For Nation Foundation’, a non-profit organization, on 12 February 2015.

                              

Speaking on one of the most relevant topics these days, Mr Garg shared his experiences of traveling through every state of India and meeting with large number of youth who are working on the social space as entrepreneurs . He also explained about the step by step procedure to convert an idea into an enterprise. It was an inspirational, motivational and informative session for the students. The final stage of the talk was converted in an interactive dialogue session between the students and the speaker, wherein the students discussed their take on the topic.
