ITM University Tennis Open 2015, the
first Lawn Tennis tournament of its kind, marked a great start on the grounds
of the University. Organized by SPACE, the Civil Engineering Society, the
tournament saw participation from various departments including Civil,
Mechanical and ECE. Diligent efforts of Civil Engineering students, Ankit
Walia, Yash Chawla and Tarun Gupta who helped put it together, ensured the
smooth functioning of the same. Raunak and Karan, the
seniors of Civil Engineering department, were able to bag the winning cash
prize of Rs 1000.

Guest Lecture By Prof. Ranjit Sinha On Feb 17, 2015
Dr.
Ranjit Sinha, Adjunct Professor, School of Management, ITM University Gurgaon
was invited to deliver a talk on “Continuous Improvement” and “Emerging Issues
in Management”. Dr. Sinha has 40 years of rich experience with British Steels,
UK and other Multi National Companies as Quality Controller, Production
Planning and Control Supply Chain Management, Manufacturing Director,
Operations Director Sales & Marketing Director (Including Commercial
Functions), Managing Director. The topic for the morning session was
“Continuous Improvement” where he highlighted “Kaizen”, “Total Quality
Management”, “Change Management”, “Leadership” etc. Prof. Sinha covered “Emerging Issues in
Management” in the afternoon session where he focused on “Diversity
Management”, “Supply Chain Management”, “Bureaucracy and Corruption”, “Effect
of Globalization”, “Technology”. The session was attended by students from MBA
1st & 2nd Year, BBA and B.Com Final Year students.
Extempore Competition – February 2015
The Synergy Club of School of
Management ITM University, Gurgaon organised an Extempore Competition on 13th February, 2015. Participation
was open to students from across the university and the response was very encouraging.
The jury members consisted of members of the faculty from different departments
and the editorial department. Students spoke on topics related to business and
current affairs. The winners were: Mr Anjney Sangal (IV Semester B. Sc. Econ.,
SOM), Mr Pulkit Sahani (IV Semester, CSE) and Mr Anuraag Mehta (IV Semester,
SOL).
American Society of Civil Engineers -Student Chapter Launched @ ITM University, Gurgaon
ITM University, Gurgaon launched the American Society of Civil
Engineers (ASCE) – Student Chapter on 20th February, 2015. The
inauguration function was attended by Prof. Prem Vrat (Pro-Chancellor &
Chief Mentor of ITM University), Mr. Arif Siddiqui (Secretary, ASCE – India
Section, Northern region), Dr. Amit Srivastava (Treasurer, ASCE – India
Section, Northern region and Associate Professor, Civil & Environmental
Engineering, ITM University), Prof. S. Ghoshal (Professor and Head of
Department, Civil & Environmental Engineering, ITM University,).On the
occasion, Prof. Prem Vrat delivered a lecture on “Efficient and Effective Project Management for Infrastructure Development:
a pre-requisite to realize vision of Developed India”.
ASCE – student chapter has a potential to provide a unique opportunity to students learning more about the civil engineering profession through participation, as members of Student Chapters. Working in a team and providing professional autonomy will help students to mature more rapidly. The Student chapter will give a unique opportunity for collaborating with other professional societies and chapters active in other institutions and organization for achieving excellence and expanding knowledge. It will also help to fill the gap between industry and academia.

ITM University, Gurgaon Student Competes in National Ice Hockey Championship
Avi Sharma, a student
of BBA 3rd year of ITM University, Gurgaon participated in the 3rd
IHAI National Ice Hockey Championship, under Junior Boys U-20 category. His
team finished as Runners Up in the Finals bagging the coveted Silver Medal.
Avi
Sharma has been an amateur player of ice hockey, when he was noticed by the
Coach of Maharashtra Ice Hockey team. The coach was impressed by Avi’s game and
offered him to play in the Maharashtra team. As there is no official ice hockey
team for Haryana or Delhi, Avi has currently opted to play for Maharashtra
team. The games were held at Ambience Mall, Gurgaon from 15 – 19 February 2015.
He has also earlier played in the Senior category held at Ladakh in February
2015.
Avi is now preparing hard to play in the national Ice Hockey
team.
